Last week, industry partners gathered in Indianapolis for Protective's annual Public Transportation Claims + Safety Seminar. During the two-day event, attendees heard from experts on a variety of topics geared toward improving their fleet operations:

  • Implementing effective wellness solutions for hard-to-reach populations
  • Developing an anti-fraud program for claims
  • The importance of driver training to behavior modification
  • Creating, inspiring and continuously improving safety culture
  • The future of estimatics
  • Driver safety issues when responding to a crisis

The presentations are available to view here. We also had a bus simulator on-site from Burlington Trailways who provided live demonstrations and shared how it can be used as an effective driver training tool.

New this year, attendees had the option to extend their stay and attend an OSHA 10-hour General Industry Certification course. This 10-hour, 1 1/2 day course covered how the provisions of the Occupational Safety & Health Act must be implemented within the transportation industry. It also provided important information about how OSHA is involved in the transportation community and how managers and employees can recognize and control common workplace hazards. If you are interested in hosting this course on-site at your fleet, please contact Loss Prevention Specialist Owen McLean at omclean@protectiveinsurance.com or 317-429-2695.
