Stay Alive When You Drive - This video program provides critical tips to help professional truck drivers avoid rail crossing collisions. Several spectacular crashes indicate the high stakes at rail crossings. In one scenario, representing a dark, dreary, rain-swept night, a driver’s attention is rewarded. Another scenario recognizes the vast number of distractions from phones, pagers, GPS systems, laptops and stereo systems that grab a driver’s attention away from the road.

It explains how professional drivers should adjust their driving in deteriorating weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, sleet, hail, fog and wind. It also demonstrates how vision and traction can affect driving and emphasizes that safety should override all other considerations. This program includes an Instructor’s Guide and overhead transparencies.

Extreme Weather Driving – (Extreme Seven-Minute Solutions) - This video is part of Keller’s Seven-Minute Solutions driver refresher video training series. It deals with operating a vehicle under adverse weather conditions that give even the most able pros trouble. Weather conditions covered include rain, black ice, snow, fog and extreme heat. Included are an Instructor’s Bulletin with a review quiz and a Driver’s Skill Card to give your drivers to remind them of the key points on this topic.

This training kit covers the basics of extreme weather driving and gives guidance for dealing with conditions like snow, ice, rain, fog and high wind. The kit includes the video and a Trainer Bulletin that provides background information and a brief overview of the video. It also includes a quiz and handout exercise for drivers and a Driver Skill Card that recaps key points from the training.

Safe Winter Driving Considerations - This video provides safety tips and techniques for handling the hazards of winter driving. Although the issues are discussed from the viewpoint of an automobile driver, the topics are applicable to commercial truck drivers as well. The major topics covered include:  Pre-Season Preparation (maintenance and tire checks, winter preparedness equipment); Pre-Trip Procedures (clothing, vehicle warm-up, snow removal, fluid check, weather check); and On The Road Issues (anti-lock braking systems, scanning for hazards, following and stopping distance, pedestrians, obstructed views, slowed acceleration, intersection hazards, inclines and descents, road surfaces, obscured road markings, narrowed lanes, sharing the road with snow removal equipment and night driving).

Speed and Space Management Training Kit - This training program is appropriate for veteran drivers or new drivers and includes a 15-minute video, an Instructor’s Guide, driver handbook and training log. Topics covered in the program are speed and stopping distances, adjusting to road conditions such as rain and ice, speed and handling curves and downgrades, space behind vehicles (tailgaters), and crossing and merging with traffic.
