The American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) National Truck & Safety Contests recognize the extraordinary safety accomplishments of motor carriers across the United States by operation type and size. Motor carriers from all 50 states, representing every type and size of operation, are encouraged to enter the ATA annual contests. Carriers are judged on their safety records relative to others within their classes of competition. Safety records are determined from the carriers’ vehicle accident rates or lost workday case rates.

The 2011 awards, which are for the 2010 calendar year, were presented at the September 2011 Safety & Human Resources National Conference & Exhibition held in Albuquerque, N.M.

Baldwin & Lyons would like to recognize our insureds who received awards at these contests. We congratulate them on their commitment to safety!

2011 ATA President’s Trophy
Pitt Ohio Express was awarded its fifth ATA President’s Trophy. This trophy is awarded to one large, one mid-sized and one small fleet with the most comprehensive safety program, based on data submitted through the National Truck & Industrial Safety Contests. Pitt Ohio Express earned the award in the mid-sized fleet category.

In receiving the ATA President’s Trophy, Pitt Ohio Express was honored for its superior safety achievements, outstanding commitment to industry safety and promotion of safety among all highway users. Motor carriers are eligible every four years and Pitt Ohio Express has won the award every year the company has been eligible.

Baldwin & Lyons is proud of Pitt Ohio Express’ true commitment to safety. The company is recognized as the industry’s safety and risk management leader due to a safety culture that encompasses all of its workers.
